Drills, 9th of May, High Rise Exercise at Tamar House, Plymouth

At drills on the 9th of May, Yelverton crew took part in a high rise exercise at Tamar House, Plymouth. Yelverton role on this occasion was in support, we took control of the lift and assisted getting equipment to the bridge head. The exercise had been planned to test the implemention of the new Standard Operating Procedures for High Rise Incidents

Fire Call, 8th of May, Gorse Fire, Yennadon Down

At 22:44 on the 8th of May, appliances from Yelverton and Crownhill and Yelvertons 4x4were called to a large gorse fire at Yennadon Down. Yelverton arrived at the scene first and found a multi seated fire beside the road down to Burrator Reservoire. The crews used beaters and a high pressure hosereel to extinguish the blaze.

Fire Call, 7th of May, Fire in the open, Shaugh Prior

At 17:16 on the 7th of May, Yelverton appliance was called to a fire in the open at Shaugh Prior. On arrival the crew found a small grass fire caused by a disposable barbeque, the crew used beaters to extinguish the fire.

Fire Call, 4th of May, Automatic Fire Alarm, Horrabridge.

At 16:28 on the 4th of May, Yelverton appliance was called to an Automatic Fire Alarm at a sheltered housing address at Horrabridge. On arrival the crew found the alarm had been caused by cooking fumes.

At 13:38 on the 4th of May, Yelverton appliance was called to an automatic fire alarm at a sheltered housing address at Yelverton. On arrival the crew found the alarm had been caused by a faulty alarm.

At 09:51 on the 29th of April, Yelverton appliance was called to an Automatic Fire Alarm at a sheltered housing complex at Yelverton. On arrival the crew found the alarm had been caused by a faulty system.

Fire Call, 28th of April, House Fire, Bere Alston.

At 12:14 on the 28th of April, appliances from Bere Alston, Tavistock and Yelverton were called to a house fire at Bere Alston. Bere Alston arrived at the scene first and quickly established there was no fire, just a bonfire in a garden and returned all on coming appliances to home stations.

Fire Call, 26th of April, Fire in the open, Yelverton.

At 20:49 on the 26th of April, Yelverton appliance was called to a fire in the open at Yelverton. On arrival the crew found the a bonfire in a garden that was under control. The crew checked the fire was safe and then returned home station.

At drills on the 25th of April, Yelverton crew were proud to present a cheque for £750.00 to representatives from our chosen charity for 2015 “Childrens Hospice South West”. Every year we raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity and a “Chosen” charity. Last years charity was Childrens Hospice South West, this years chosen charity is Elsa’s Journey at CLIC Sargent. At 16:10 on the 25th of april, Yelverton appliance was sent to station 49 Crownhill for stand by duties. They closed home station at 16:55.
