Fire Call, 13th of January, Chimney Fire, Yelverton

Currently we get little feed back from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below.

At 13:27 on the 13th of January, Yelverton appliance was called to a chimney fire at an address at Yelverton. On arrival the crew found a chimney well alight, access from the woodburner was limited so the crew used the 135 ladder and a roof ladder to attack the fire from the roof. Once the fire was knocked back the crew were able to remove the woodburner and found a birds nest that had fallen down the chimney causing the blockage and fire.

The crew revisited the address at 18:00 to check the chimney for any hot spots with the TIC

Remember even if you don’t use your woodburner very often it still needs sweeping before you use it to remove things like birds nests.
