Fire Call, 13th of April, Fire in the open, Roborough Down.

Currently we get little feed back from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below.

At 19:54 on the 13th of April, Yelverton appliance was called to a fire in the open at Roborough Down near the Bere Alston Road. On arrival the crew found a rubbish fire about 300 – 400 yards into the moor. The crew extinguished the fire with the small pump.

This was a rubbish fire that was primarily a flat screen TV!! How on earth someone came to the conclusion that the best way to get rid of a telly was to carry it into the moor and set fire to it astounds me. The remnants of the rubbish, mainly plastic and glass are harmfull to the wild life on the moor and if nothing else it is unsightly at a place of such natural beauty!!

If you have information about this fire please contact the police on one of the following:-
