Extra drills, 12th of February, HM Dockyard, Plymouth.

Currently we get little feed back from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below.

On the 12th of February, Yelverton crew were involved in a multi pump exercise at Devonport Dockyard on board a Royal Navy ship. All crew at Yelverton are trained as Maritime Fire Fighters to back up the wholetime pumps in Plymouth at the Dockyard.

Sorry no photos.

  1. Hi Fred and all at stn 58
Looks like a busy start to the year for you.
Are you the only retained station trained for maritime fire fighting? and are all full time fire fighters trained in maritime f/Fighting?
Why do we not see the army standing in (as has been the case in the past) when the union calls strike action?
Take care and keep up the good work.

    • Hi Mark

Thanks for the comment, sorry its taken so long to reply. We are one of the few maritime stations, all the Plymouth wholetime and retained are maritime trained because of the dockyard. As you have probably seen on the blog we regularly go into the dockyard for HM ship exercises to keep our skill levels up. Reference the army, I think it is a government decision not a local one that prevents their use.

      Hope that helps
      Thanks again

      fred
