Fire Call, 10th of May, Smell of Smoke in house, Yelverton

Currently we get little feed back from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below

At 21:39 on the 10th of May, appliances from Yelverton and Crownhill were called to a “smell of smoke” at an address at Yelverton. Yelverton arrived at the scene first and quickly identified the smoke had been caused by a cigarette not stubbed out in a food dish igniting some paper serviettes. The occupier was quite upset by the whole episode and the crews checked the premises with a thermal imaging camera to allay any fears she may have and explained the perils of smoking and leaving burning cigarettes unattended. The property didn’t have any smoke alarms and again the crew explained how important they are and then, a kindly neighbour offered to fit them on the occupiers behalf if the occupier bought them. It’s nice to see neighbours pitching in to help each other.
