Fire Call, 7th of April, Grass fire, Cadoverbridge.

Currently we get little feed back from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, please use the facility below.

At 18:52 on the 7th of April appliances from Plympton and Yelverton appliance was called to a grass fire at Cadoverbridge. Plympton arrived at the scene first and proceeded onto the moor on foot. On arrival of Yelverton, Plympton advised they were not required and Yelverton returned home station.

These moorland fires are a drain on fire service resources at a time when the service is already undergoing severe budget cuts. Appliances at moorland fires are not available for more serious incidents like RTC’s and house fires. There is a simple system for commoners to register there “burn” with fire control with very little restrictions other than they keep the fire under control and don’t burn at night.!!
