Drills, 30th of April, RTC exercise at Station with guest casualty

Currently we get little feedback from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below to contact us.

At drills on the 30th of April, the crew from Yelverton had an RTC exercise with a guest casualty that had purchased the event at a Charity Auction in aid of the Childrens Hospice South West. We have a reserve appliance while ours is being serviced which meant it was a good opportunity to familiarise the crew with the RTC Equipment on board the reserve. Mrs Vicky Beer was kitted up with full PPE and watched the initial stages of an RTC extrication (up to glass management) and then sat in the car as the roof was removed. She was removed from the car on a spine board and that signalled the end of the event. I have included a link to the Childrens Hospice South West Web site.

I have also included some photos including one of Vicky under a clear plastic sheet referred to in Fire Service parlance as “Soft Protection”
