Fire Call, 29th of March, Grass Fire, Yennadon Down, Dousland.

Currently we get little feedback from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below to contact us.

At 18:44 on the 29th of March, appliances from Princetown and Yelverton were called to a grass fire at Yennadon Down, Dousland. Yelverton arrived at the scene first and proceeded onto the moor on foot. Princetown with its 4×4 capability rendezvoused with our appliance and then redeployed to the moor via a different route which allowed them access on to the moor. We all met at the scene of the fire which had all but burnt its self out. Crews used beaters to extinguish what fire remained and Princetown then drove us off the moor.

We have been fortunate this year during the swaling season. The local commoners have all stuck to the rules and we have only been out a few times for unauthorised swaling. That said, if the person responsible for the fire at Yennadon had reported his intention to fire control and stayed with the fire we would not have been sent which would mean we were available for more important calls and hadn’t cost the tax payer any money.

If you have any information regarding this fire you can report it to the Police anonymously on either:-
