Fire Call, 2nd of March, Barn Fire, Forder Valley Farm, Plymouth

Currently we get little feedback from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below to contact us.

At 17:06 on the 2nd of March Yelverton appliance was sent to station 49 Crownhill for stand by duties. At 17:39 they were mobilised to “make pumps eight, Barn fire, Forder Valley Farm. On arrival Yelverton crew were used as BA wearers, BA control operators and pump operators. Water to fight the fire was pumped from a stream to the scene of operations using “water relay”, a series of portable pumps in line pumping water to the next pump. Eventually the barn roof collapsed into the barn and fire fighting operations were reduced, allowing Yelverton to close home station at 21:18.

Unfotunately the photos the crew took were not the best, mostly the back of the head of the fire fighter in front of them. Fortunately FF Aaron Worth found this photo on the internet.
