Charity Summer Hog Roast, 3rd of September.

Currently we get little feedback from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below to contact us.

On the 3rd of September the station held its annual Charity Hog Roast. At 11:00 we lit the hog roast, thanks to Meavy Oak Fair committee for lending us the pig roast and Tom Bell for giving up his time to prepare the pig and show me how to use the spit. The Pig was supplied  free of charge by Janet Halsall of Upaton Bugalow, Pound,so a big thanks to her. If the hog roast was anything to go by the pork she sells must be lovely.  Al Swinburn provided the wood for the spit free of charge. The music was provided by “The Avatars” free of charge who were fantastic, their first set was an hour long and really got the party moving. Follow the link for more details about the band http://www.theavatarsband.com/ The event kicked off properly at about 19:00, everyone appeared to have a good time despite the weather and we finally finished clearing up around midnight. We had a fire call to Cadoverbridge at 22:13 and just when we thought we’d finished for the night we had a barn fire at Princetown at 00:36. Nevertheless, we had a raffle with lots of prizes and managed to raise £200.00 net of expenses to be split equally between the Firefighters Charity and the “Make a wish” Charity. I have included some photos, more in the Gallery.
