Fire Call, 21st of August, Person trapped in a lift, Yelverton.

Currently we get little feedback from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below to contact us.

At 09:14 on the 21st of August, appliances from Yelverton and Crownhill were called to a sheltered housing complex to rescue a person trapped in a lift. On arrival the crew found an elderly lady trapped in the lift which had stopped working after a power cut. The crew used small tools to access the lift and free the woman. It should be noted that lift rescues are very dangerous and, unless careful serious injury can be caused when making a rescue. If the lift is not fully at a correct opening the lift can move causing injury at the “sheer” point between lift and floor. On this occasion the lift was on the ground floor but the doors had not opened.
