Drills, 16th of May, SHAC’s (Lines) drill Burrator Reservoir

Currently we get little feedback from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below to contact us.

At drills on the 16th of May, the crew went to Burrator Reservoir for a SHAC’s exercise. During the course of the exercise all the relevant points regarding safely descending and ascending were covered as well as the knots and techniques used to anchor the lines. At Yelverton we are a stage one SHAC’s station which means we only use lines to ensure our safety, we never use them to raise or lower anyone except in an emergency when the planned action has gone wrong.. That means in general terms we proceed under our own steam and use the lines purely as a safety measure.
