Fire Call, 18th of March, Person trapped in middle of river, Dartmeet

Currently we get little feedback from people reading the blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please use the facility below to contact us.

At 13:04 on the 18th of March, appliances from Ashburton and Yelverton and the line rescue team from Camels Head were called to a man trapped on a stepping stone in the river Dart who had slipped and broken his leg. Yelverton appliance was first in attendance and utilised the water rescue equipment to create a safe working environment which included donning dry suits and positioning crew with throw lines down river as a precaution. Once the line rescue team arrived, their mud mats were deployed and used to float the casualty onto the bank. He was then airlifted to hospital in the air ambulance.

I have included some photos, more in the gallery.

  1. Great to read about the incidents you attend. Are Princetown unable to turn out as in this incident and others they are not mentioned.
